This place is a joke! For 1 year I've dealt with mold and the continuous accusation of owing them money. I pay for rent, pets, and garages. Twice they had to do a garage audit (because they have no clue who is using the garages), they've had a thief/thieves working in the office, and not to mention multiple people trying to run the place that have no clue to what the hell they are doing. I'm sure that I'm not the only one they are accusing of owing money....hell, they have to make back all the money that was stolen! Also, the pool was treated with too much chlorine last year to keep the kids out and the basketball court has no net on the rim. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!

I have lived at Canterbury House Apt. 1 year now. They have been under new management since I moved. I can't say enough good about them, easy to work with an very pleasant to talk to. The maintenance are always on top of fixing what every needs to be done.As for apt.living this apt.complex is pretty much sound proff. I've met nothing but nice people living here. The pool an work out room pluse basketball courts are wounderfull. They also have a nice club house an computer room. It's very family oriented. I recommend the Canterbury House Appartments

Canterbury House Apt Review Your home should be your place of rest, peace and comfort. I'm not sure you will find that here. Ask Canterbury why they do not change the air filters in the units. Ask the residents how many properties managers they have had. Ask the residents if its easy to get in touch with someone. Ask how often the clubhouse closes early. If I would have had someone tell me about their experience at Canterbury, I would have never moved here. Before you decide to move here, ask a resident about their experience with trash disposal. Ask if the street light works consistently when they take the trash out in the evening. Ask if their neighbors put their smelly trash (that attract the neighborhood cats) in the hallways because of the ridiculous commute to dispose of their trash. Especially in bad weather. Ask about the cigarettes butts in the stairways. Ask about all the dogs without leaches. 3 times I have been stuck in my car with barking dogs trying to get to me. Ask if their hallway lights work consistently. Too many times I have come home in the evening without lights to light my path. Ask if they trust the legitimacy of the water company Canterbury uses? Ask if they have seen recent hikes in their water bills? Ask about the crime. Ask about the kids (toddlers too) who ride their bikes or walk around in the driveways unsupervised. They are all good kids but ALWAYS scare me as I'm coming in going. Speaking of kids, ask about the cleanliness of the pool. Ask Canterbury how often the pool is cleaned. Ask the residents about the smoking and drinking at the pool WHILE kids are there! I have yet to go and not see parents smoking, despite me asking them nicely to not. I'm exhausted. I have requested (nicely) with this company to amend many wrongs I have experienced during my stay. They refuse. Every time. It's stressful. This does not feel like "home." Please. Please. Please. Ask questions and communicate your expectations. Stop by the property after work and speak to a few of the residents and ask them to answer the questions I listed. I trust you will find the answers you are looking for.

Anxiety, Stress and Disappointment. Over and over again. I have been a resident for almost 6 years. I moved here my last year of college and initially loved my apartment. If interested in moving here, please beware that management turn over is very high. The average time a property managers stays is less than 6 months and for assistant property managers even less. The high turnover results in high work loads for the property managers, policies being inconsistently communicated and enforced. I have become numb to the "new sheriff in town" routine each property manager plays and don't know who or what to take seriously. Property managers do not last long and the chance to build a relationship with management is almost impossible. They have coporate come in to help who are cold, brief and not personable. They have had temps and many people fired for theft, fraud, or no shows. The past 2 years especially have been challenging to say the least. Ranging from trash can over flow, maintenance charges for blinds I never needed, dirty pools, stolen packages delivered to the club house, dark hallways (lights not being replaced) a late fee, court fee AND attorney fee for being 1 week 1/2 late on rent. My daughters tuition payment took priority this past month so I prepared myself for a $50 late fee but to my surprise was charged an additional $155 fee for court and attorney cost. In 6 years time I have paid my rent late 3x and have NEVER incurred additional fees. It is so unethical to NOT be consistent and transparent in policy. The property managers are ALWAYS stressed, at capacity and rarely answer the door or phone. Simple questions and concerns go neglected. My worst experience was reserving the club house for my daughter's birthday party, rushing home from work on a Friday to get the key to the club house, only to find a sign on the door that they had closed early. (NO PRIOR NOTICE and NO ONE REACHED OUT TO MAKE SURE I HAD THE CLUBHOUSE KEY) Prior managers have had maintenance leave a key in my apartment, or left it in my mailbox. I sent an email after I knocked on the doors for 5 minutes ( I had a feeling someone was actually inside) I received a quick response and was told "we don't reserve the clubhouse during non-business hours" which was an complete lie. I had a reservation form signed that stated otherwise. When I explained that it wasn't true and that it was important that I have access to the clubhouse because I had relatives coming into town, I was told I would have to find another resident who also reserved the space the day before and hope that I could get it from them -_-. Why is that ok? How is that allowed to happen? When I later asked the property manager why I was treated so poorly, she didn't have a reason and couldn't recall the incident entirely. The lies, rudeness, neglect and disregard for the amenities that I am entitled to as a resident is stressful and unacceptable. I will be leaving when my lease is up. Life is hard and to have to stress over the security of your home, where you pay your hard earned money, doesn't make sense to me. Trust me when I say, the perks of these apartments are NOT worth the stress that come with management. I am flexible, empathetic and not easily roused but my experience with Canterbury has challenged me in every way.

When I originally reviewed this location, things were looking pretty bad. The management was horrible, rent payments lost, and little effective maintenance. However, corporate arrived, and started turning things around. The appartments aren't that bad, the community is decent, and I hope these improvements on Management's behalf continue this new, improving trend.

Used to be great until they obviously started moving hood rats from the projects in lately. 0 parking. Management is a joke and crime going on 24/7. Shouldn't have to live somehwere where the cops have to drive through hourly.. can't wait to get out sept 8th can't come soon enough. It's disgusting

I've lived here for a year and I'm starting to notice how they just rig everything together so it looks nice at first. Opened my cabinet door yesterday and it just fell off where it had been stripped and someone literally just put a bigger screw in it. They didn't open the pool until the end of June. People just let their kids run through the halls screaming and throwing food and garbage on the ground and they never clean up the halls. I can't even take my 3 year old to the pool with out him saying cuss words. I was one day late for the first time ever simply because of the Hoilday weekend and they charged me $50 and refused to take anything but a money order. I hate it here! The only nice thing I will say is the maintenance man Monte is super friendly and down to earth and probably the only person working here that is qualified for their job.

Management is awful and seems to turn over a lot, we moved in at the end of November and now there is a new, horrible manager. The assistant is even worse. It took them a week to fix our refrigerator even though I told them I had refrigerated Crohn's medications. They tried to get our truck towed for "expired tags" even though the tags weren't expired. Maintenance has entered our home without permission or notice at least once and refused to leave when told. They're trying to say we owe $1,100 even though we have ALWAYS paid our rent on time. They say we've paid our rent but not our utilities. We pay our electric directly to Duke and we just got our first water bill (we have a utility cap due to my disability) and it said we owed a total of about $50. They can't explain what we owe or provide any documentation of it. We have the money to pay, but they won't tell us why we owe it. They gave us a letter saying we have a week to pay or leave, but they still won't tell us what the debt actually is... in the office the manager even admitted that she was confused. They say the debt has been building since November and this week is the first they've told us about it. We even asked the old manager a couple months ago if our account was paid up and she said yes and that they actually owed us money and she was working on getting it to us. The apartments are nice except for the bad insulation and some electrical issues... but the management makes it not worth it at all.
