Lived at Metro close to 4 years from June 2017 to March 2021 in 3 different 2bd 2ba units.
Staff - Right from Dana/Hailey when I moved in 2017 now to Christopher/Tony when I moved out, the staff at the Metro office was very helpful. Tony even got our rent negotiated when Equity tried to rent us out in 2018. He helped us negotiate a similar rent decrease in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic.
Amenities- Metro is a no frills community with fewer amenities than most other communities in the area. The gym is almost nonexistent. It was also odd that they would keep the lounge open only during office hours. A locker was installed sometime during my stay which made it convenient to pick packages. The staff was also very helpful in taking care of larger sized packages and almost always made sure packages were not left out in the hallways overnight. Theyd also drop an email if they had received a package on my behalf. One of the elevators would go down frequently. However, the Metro staff was fairly quick at all times to get it fixed. There are no recycling chutes at Metro.
Security - Fob based access was enabled in 2020. Though, the elevators did not require fobs. It would have been nice to have that additional security. The staff responded swiftly to the only occurrence of a car break in during my stay at Metro. It was common to see security patrol at night.
Apartments - Appliances in all units i stayed in were fairly new (except the heating system which still has a non digital control) and in good working condition. There are no ACs as is common for most Seattle apartments. Most apartments are entirely carpeted which did make keeping them clean time consuming.
Maintenance - Except during the pandemic, I found that maintenance requests handled fairly quickly.
Garage - I didnt have a car. However, a friend living in Metro did. Parking is relatively tight and it can be quiet tough to safely get the car in and out given the space.
Views - The Metro deck offers amazing views of Elliot Bay, downtown and Space Needle. The last unit I stayed
in Metro had views of the bay from every single window and patio in the unit. That alone was worth the minor inconveniences I had at Metro.
Move out - I decided to move out only because my roommate and I wanted to get our own places. Tony tried his best to find 2 1 bd units for us in Metro but did not have vacancies.
I now live in a community close to Metro but terribly miss the views from my old apartment. Id like to move back into Metro once my current lease is over just for the views. Its unfortunate though that even with modest amenities, rents at Metro are not much less than brand new communities with way better amenities in the area. Even so, I recommend Metro highly for the views, helpful staff and proximity to everything Lower Queen Anne has to offer.
