Not recommend. I moved here because of friend recommendation. But things got terrible after I moved in. In Jan 2016, There was no hot water in winter night. It's. it possible to take a warm shower when you get back from school midnight. I complained this several times but the never took this seriously and the temper was really rude. Several months later, water was cut off unexpectedly in morning, without ANY notice. Sometimes when you want to take a shower before going to class, water just stops. It happened several times a week, when you tooth brushing, washing hands, or cleaning dishes. And started from march 2016, I heard weird sound inside walls at late midnight I've experience this nightmare for a month and thought it might be an unthoughtful neighbor. Then one day, a mouse rushed out from a corner beside my bed, accompanied with my scream at 3am. We had a Chinese amberson group and everyone from 1 to 9th floor complain about mice. We complained and they ask someone to put poison in the wall. Sound disappeared for a while. But it does not solve the problem. We can see mice in living room often. I graduated May2016 and moved out. My friend was still living there and recently she moved out because of mice. It was good in 2015 and before. The price is relatively high in Pittsburgh. But it's a terrible place to live. Paying over 1400 for 2br and live with mice and unexpected water cutoff. The manager shows no respect for tenants. It was a lifetime nightmare to live with mice for half a year. We students were too busy to spend any spare time to argue with them. I think we even can not sue them since they took action but just didn't work.

Back when I lived here about 2-3 years ago, the Amberson Plaza was a pretty good place to live, if a bit expensive for its age. The rent for a single room and a living room was $950 (refurbished) and the staff was quite helpful when asked for help. The price aside, the management told me the building was about 30 years old, and you may see the occasional cockroach about once a week(... and the centipede about once a year... ). Still, this is very close to many of the UPMC buildings, Carnegie Mellon, and even the Giant Eagle and Wholefoods supermarket, so I think it isn't a bad choice for students/scholars visiting UPMC or CM. The location is absolutely 5 stars, the building itself is very old so about 2 stars, I'd say that you could give this place anything from 2-4 stars depending on how helpful the management is. It was pretty good from 2013-2014, so looking at the recent reviews, I assume it fell apart sometime in 2015.

The leasing office says open from 9-5 but in reality they are only there from 9-10ism am and you have to be lucky. It took them more than a week to fix my broken AC and the maintenance guy have the worst attitude. He's thinks he's the boss and just doesn't want to help you. There are much better places around this area. Stay away from here.

They are approachable and get things done on time, Over all a nice place in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh!!
