We unloaded the moving truck into the upstairs apartment in about 45 minutes, then took a closer look to find bedbugs all around where the carpet meets the walls, some of the dead ones had paint on their backs from where the apartment was recently painted. Management insisted my sister brought the bugs with her because Florida Pest Control had just inspected the apartment, but she had never seen a bedbug in her life before this. She will not be getting her deposit or 1st month's rent back, despite never staying a single night in the bug ridden apartment. She rented yet another truck to move everything into a storage unit she rented because she's worried her furniture is now contaminated. To sum it up, she's out about $2,000, moved all her stuff twice, still has to drive a long way to work, and is living in her old apartment without furniture (she has a 5 year-old son, BTW). Brookside Apartments is one scummy operation.

If a zero or negative star was available, I would have chosen that. Horrible experience overall. I have never paid so much (almost $1,200 a month) for so little. Basic everything cabinets, countertops, etc. Mold around windows and bathroom tub. We had to resolve these issues ourselves. Noise & jumping above us to the point chips of the ceiling was falling down (one issue that never got resolved). Fire alarm going off in the middle of the night because of an electrical short. Had to have maintenance come reset them multiple times. I guess one of the things you are paying for is security but the front gate only closes is from 10pm to 5am... I mean the hours when 90% of normal people are sleep. However since I worked early hours and had to be at work at 3am, I could promise you that 50% of the time I left the gates were still not closed (in other words you're paying for something you are not even getting). Let's talk amenities, SWIMMING pool. That's it! And that closes at 6pm, so if you get off work at 5pm then forget about it. Trash is always piled up at dumpster, office only opens 3 days a week, they don't answer phones, when they do they don't get back with concerning your issues. I could go on and on... Lastly, I would just say to ask to inspect your apartment before you sign your lease.

I relocated here from North Carolina and the lady I worked with is no longer working here which is good because she would lie and never called back or answered the phone. Moving forward I work from home and Everytime I turn around they wanted to come in and do a inspection of my apartment which I payed full market rent no section 8 help. This was a problem because how can I take calls and have a inspection in the middle of a call? I have to have a noise free environment. I spoke with office staff about this but I felt like they could care less because the response was that's corporate policy. My neighbor had kids that she let run, jump,and stomp all over my head and the noise was being picked up on my work at home calls. I reported this to office to ask if they could address it they said they would but they noise just got louder. I asked for a strip to be fixed under my front door because I could see under and I didn't want any creatures in my home but I was told if something want to get in it will and the strip was never fixed. I have voiced all this to office over and over. I found a better place and I put my 60 day notice in and I moved out 2 months before my lease was up. I cleaned the apartment and turned in my keys. I received a letter from their collections with a incorrect out ragious balance that I called to dispute and get corrected. I was then told that none of my concerns are documented and that I was supposed to speak with the property manager to get approval for breaking my lease which I was never told before hand. It has been a week and a half calling and leaving voicemails with no call back from the property manager to help me. Collections is hounding me for the incorrect amount and said even though I am waiting on the property manager to help they still are going after the incorrect amount. I have never dealt with so much confusion, disorganization, lack of knowledge, and lack of communication in a company. I think I will end up having to get a lawyer.
