I was one of the Marketplace's first tenants. I lived in a super cute studio apt overlooking the river for almost 18 months until I moved out in August of 2016. The staff at Marketplace was always available to help me when anything went wrongwhether I locked myself out, had a fight delayed and needed someone to check in on my cat, or to fix a leaky window (in a new building there were a few things that needed to be fixed here and there early on). The maintenance staff was top class, knowledgable, flexible, and most importantly FUN! Any time the staff entered my apt they would take the time to great my cat and catch up with the details of my life and share stories of their's. It was like a real community. Speaking of community--I just so happen to live across the hall from a guy that would eventually become one of my best friends. Weekly trips to Lansing Brewing Company and summer evenings on the patio at the Beer Grotto were ritual! A group of us Marketplace residents became regulars at many of the local establishments! When I got relocated to Chicago for work with a few months left in my lease (that I was planning to renew for another 18 months), the staff in the leasing office did absolutely everything they could to accommodate me and we were able to come up with a creative solution that allowed me to painlessly transition to my new home/job in Chicago. I would recommend Marketplace Apts and the Gillespie Group folks to anyoneespecially young professionals looking to live, work, and enjoy life downtown!
