Place was ok while we lived there but they turn real shady when you move out. After we turned in our 60 day notice to move out and paid the full amount they came back the 3 days before me move out and said they prorated it wrong so we had to pay another $400 or vacate immediately. They chalked that up to a clerical error by the guy in the office. Then two months later we get a call from collections saying we owe MORE rent and damage fees. The address Somerset gave collections was the wrong address so they will probably chalk that up to another clerical error. We did the walkthrough with them and they said we had no damages. The date on the paper for the walkthrough (according to collections) was the same day we paid the other $400 they scammed us out of. Weird they didn't mention the other rent due while we were paying for their clerical error.
I'm even more annoyed because we convinced 2 other couples to move in since we left and we were just telling yet another couple to move in there after they sell their house. 2 days later all this nonsense starts (again).

Lived here for two years while attending MSU, such a wonderful place to live! The apartments are very beautiful and spacious, and the staff/maintance are extremely nice and do a wonderful job accommodating all of your needs. I highly recommend Somerset Park Apartments to anyone looking for long or short term living.

Office and maintenance are very polite and timely, beware- the punishment for being 3ndays late on rent (even if if the 1st falls over a holiday) and if you dont pay rent in 10 days they dont play- they charge late fee(I believe over $100) plus file papers with the courts to evict you(and charge younadditionally for that)
They are a machine,no heart. Its not the staffs fault. Its a coorperation.

Of course with any apartment complex there are bound to be problem areas. However, the staff here are very good at responding to tenant concerns, with our living here since 04/16 we are very pleased. We decided to renew until 10/18. People are very friendly and tend to watch over other neighbors. Dogs are allowed since new owners have taken overs. This has been some little problems with a few not picking up after their dogs, but pickup stations will eventually be installed. The maintainance crew, Alan, Wilbur and others respond quickly! They are experienced pros and communicate well. All improvements are coming - it takes a period of time to provide them. The office staff are very kind and provide positive assistance. The surrounding areas are enviromentally friendly, lots of wildlife, especially birds with cranes, geese, turtles, frogs, bees being among them. There are deer and lots of other non invasive critters. Bengall Wildlife Area is especially nice for hiking, walking your dog, Thursday night gatherings at the lodge, photo oppurtunities, etc. All in all it is a very nice apartment complex!
As an aside, it is 01/23/2018, THERE IS A VERY LARGE PROBLEM WITH DOG SCAT NOT BEING PICKED UP IN THE PUBLIC AREAS - THIS IS LARGELY IGNORED BY MANAGEMENT! IT IS UNSIGHTLY, UNHEALTHY AND DISGUSTING!!!! THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PICK UP STATIONS FOR THE AMOUNT OF DOG WALKING AREAS, SPECIFICALLY THE SOUTHWESTERN AREA NEXT TO DRUMHELLER RD. THIS IS A PRISTINE ENVIRONMENTAL AREA WITH MUCH WILDLIFE, HOWEVER! MANAGEMENT HAS RESPONSIBILITY, NOT LONG TERM OR YOUNG FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN THAT PLAY IN THESE AREAS! I HAVE SEEN CHILDREN, AMONG THEM MY OWN GRANDSONS PLAYING IN THE SNOW STEPPING IN AND GETTING DOGS---T ON THEIR CLOTHING, GLOVES AND FEET! ADULTS TRACK THRU AT NIGHT, THEN UNKNOWINGLY (SHORTLY DISCOVER DOGS--T ON THEIR CARPETING OR AUTO MATS! THE DOG SCAT ALSO GOES INTO OUR WATERWAY RUNOFF!

The apartments are nice. All the appliances are somewhat new. The kitchen is tiny and has no counter space at all. The lighting is very bad, most roomsare very dark unless you have several lamps. The walls between apartments are practically sound proof but between rooms within the apartment they are very thin. I would not live there again mainly because the location does not fit my personal preference however if you like quiet apartments away from people it's worth touring
This is a great place to live. The staff are always so friendly and are willing to help whenever possible. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

I've lived here over 2 years came from Florida this isn't the beach but I have a walk out to the woods I really enjoy my two bedroom one bedroom I have set up as a commercial audio Studio which works great. The staff is terrific I only have one issue all the sudden they started to charge for water sewer and trash pickup at approximately $65 a month although I did not have an increase in my lease it was a gigantic surprise.
But overall the property is very nice quiet and secluded. Do your due diligence on your monthly cost the basically it is a decent value.

As a tenant currently and on my third lease I wish I would have never signed another lease. The property manager is incompetent. Very poorly run property management group. Actually had a situation this morning where my smoke alarm has been chirping. I let the office know and apparently soonest they can come is Tuesday morning. I would fix this myself however for the amount of money that you pay ( youll be lucky if they post your rent check to the right person) and for the highly vaulted ceilings it makes it very difficult. If the Properry management group wants you to do something you better get it done immediately, however when you need something done always treated poorly!
Update: Just called in to call about my situation and spoke with Kristin. Very rude and condescending. You pay for amentities but its on there own terms of how they provide them to you. I would never recommend anyone to live here ever again!!
Just stayed with my daughter for a week. WOW this place is much nicer compared to when I lived there 8 years ago.

My husband and I loved living here. We took care of our apartment as if it were our own home and at the end of the lease got back our full security deposit. The walls in the units are not "paper thin" although we could at only a few times hear what was going on around us, but that is a part of apartment living. Most of the people living around here are lovely and it is generally speaking a very quiet and safe area. I loved the immediate access to the highways and how close it was to Meijer, restaurants, and the mall. The rent does seem a tad bit high at first but after looking around more in Lansing it is a fairly competitive price considering the quality and size of the apartments. We live in Lansing now to be closer to my husband's work but if we ever decided to move out of Lansing we would likely move right back to Somerset.

As someone who has moved around a lot, this is the only apartment which I truly enjoyed living in. I love the layout of the one bedroom apartments. Also the third floor has very nice vaulted ceilings to make it feel even more spacious. If you stay in one of the newer buildings the kitchen is beautifully done. You can hear people if they're talking in the hallways but I've never heard the neighbors through the walls. It's generally a very nice and quiet community. Additionally the office staff have always been courteous and respond to requests promptly. I would definitely recommend living here.

Paper thin walls! Is there a way to rate with negative stars? I received a notice on my door and an emailed threat of eviction for excessive noise. The "excessive noise" is being generated by some computer speakers. The complaint is one tenants opinion or perception. I'm not listening to a Bose system or a Harman Kardon with 8-12 inch speakers, we are talking some auxiliary cable connected to a smart phone computer speakers generating "excessive noise". The respect your neighbors quiet hours are 930 pm until 730 am. The complaint states "excessive noise" at 830 pm one day and around 630 pm another day. Unless you plan to live like a little church mouse don't waste your time with this place.

I feel this is my home. I am from NYC.. Born and raised.. I'm widowed and my youngest daughter goes to MSU.. Living in Bath takes me away from the craziness of drunk kids during Sports Events. I never knew what a College Town was! I I. I have found all the Maintenance guys,The Amazingly kind and lovely young women in the leasing office Awesome... and a few really sweet and so very kind neighbors .
I'm part of the Bath Community.. I love going to the Bath Farmers Market and the Bath Police have helped me out on a few occasions. It's a lovely place to live. One School Teacher here in Bath found me on Pinterest... I am an Author.
So to sum this up.. This is a wonderful lace to
live with wonderful people all around me..

I would certainly not recommend renting here. There are a number of reasons this is the case. We lived here for 8 months until the beginning of May 2014
1. Poor customer service.
The main entrance door to the apartment unit we lived had a lock that was broken for 4 months of our stay there. I asked the staff to fix the problem over and over again and they never fixed the lock.
2. Poor construction. We rented a very small 700 square foot apartment. This unit had energy bills that were higher than our previous apartment that was double the size.
3. The staff will keep your security deposit for no reason. We left the apartment in MINT condition, had the carpets steam cleaned and deep cleaned all areas. I was an apartment manager for 10 years and would have gladly returned security deposits for units in similar conditions to ours.
The staff claimed that they had to replace all carpets and held us liable despite the fact that the carpets were not new when we moved in and had no damage.
I would recommend for anyone that lives there that you do an amazing job of documenting the state of the apartment, including detailed pictures of the carpet before you move in.
On the positive side, the management did a good job of snow removal, the apartment was in good condition when we took occupancy, and they have tennis courts.
Other than that would highly recommend staying away.
I would certainly not recommend renting here. There are a number of reasons this is the case. We lived here for 8 months until the beginning of May 2014...

Somerset is an okay apartment to live at if you are willing to drive 15 minutes minimum to get anywhere and are willing to pay a high premium for the place. I lived at somerset for 2 years. At first the service was great but as time grew on the service got worse. Our AC broke multiple times (not their fault) but took about a week to fix during a week of 90+ degree weather! Yikes!! The apartments are nice, yes! and they do offer amenidies, however if you plan to live their multiple years, plan on them increasing your rent signifiantly each year. There is no customer loyalty. We decided to move to Runaway Bay Apartments in Lansing. They are def equivalent if not nicer than Somerset apartments and we are paying $100/mo less. So its $100 less and we get a little more sq footage, its a better floorplan, still has a fireplace still 3rd floor..way bigger belcony and the same but nicer amenedies. Anywho, to sum up, Somerset is nice yes, but the matinence is simply okay, they raise there prices for current customers by $80+ dollars a year, and you might tell yourself "its really not that far from everything" but let me tell you, 10-15 min from EVERYTHING stinks! Go to runaway bay
