There are many pros and cons to living at Ashland Manor. I lived there for two years.
Pros: The grounds are kept pretty clean and the access to the trails is nice. Also, the pool access and tennis courts were a plus for the price of the apartment. The master bedroom is HUGE and so is the closet. It is walking distance from campus which was really nice. I enjoyed the scenery while living here.
Cons: Ron the maintenance guy is rude. My a/c never worked so I opened the windows to get some air flow. When he came in to fix it he told me my problem was because I had the windows open. Kind of a smart ass, don't you think? The a/c was never fixed the entire time I lived there despite multiple calls to the office of my apartment being 85 degrees. If you live upstairs, good luck because you're looking at $150 utility bills. Also, there was a leak in my roof which dripped onto my bed. When maintenance came to fix it, they said there was nothing wrong, yet there was a hole in my ceiling. I had a leak in my bathroom and didn't hear maintenance knock at my door, which they thought I wasn't home (understandable). One of the maintenance workers didn't bother to knock on my bedroom door though after he came in, so he walked in on me sleeping, woke me up, and continued to work after he acknowledged that I was sleeping. I later found out that he had used my roommate's toilet because there was pee all over the seat, but my roommate had been out of town for two days. My apartment also had a bee issue. I told the office manager and she said they were just carpenter bees and they would go away--only after they had made their bee hive on my porch and burrowed into the exterior wall (they're called carpenter bees for a reason). There is also black mold down in the storage unit. We used to store clothes and furniture down there, but removed it because the mold in our storage locker had settled on everything. Lastly, my boyfriend and I have been moved out for over a month, and we still have not received our security deposits in which we are legally obligated to take action against them because they have had over 30 days to send it to us.
