Takoma Park is known as a creative community and I think you'll find this apartment fits the bill!
This one-bedroom apartment in a great neighborhood and is one flight upstairs in a private home and is convenient to shopping, buses, the metro and two great parks. There is shared yard space as well a shared laundry facility (located in the basement). The apartment is about 570 square feet and has a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bath, and two storage areas.
The kitchen and bath were recently updated! New sink/faucet and custom countertops (with a whimsical backsplash - must be seen!)/eating bar for the kitchen. In the bath which has a clawfoot tub and antique sink, the updates include a ceramic tile floor, paneling and 2 cabinets. The floors except for the bathroom are hardwood and have been refinished. The storage areas are extensive and most renters find them to be a big asset! There are several shared yard spaces, including a patio with a gazebo that can be covered/screened as well as a side yard with a concrete pad. If you’re into gardening, there are opportunities, including a “berry cage” (to keep the berries in😊).
Tenant ONLY pays for gas for stove and electric. Owner pays for water/sewer, trash collection, heat and WiFi. No smoking within a minimum of 15 feet of the building. The distance may be increased if smoke bothers other occupants. One year lease minimum.
There is a task shared with other tenants of moving the trash/recycling from the corral to the street. There is a schedule shared with tenants from other apartments. I prefer a tenant who is environmentally concerned.
PLEASE NOTE - The current tenant moves out 4/28/25 and turn-over maintenance will begin then but should easily be completed by Thursday, May 1.
If you apply and are accepted, the offer is good for 24 hours unless a longer, mutually agreed time (usually 48 hours) is acceptable. One month's rent and an executed contract is required which allows me to inform other interested parties that the apartment has been leased. The security deposit is due 3 days before the move-in date.

The rent is $1325 for this apartment which includes heat, water/sewer, trash collection and WiFi. The tenant pays gas for the stove and electric. I require a year lease (minimum) and security deposit equal to one-months' rent. No smoking or pets please.

-Takoma Park Metro is about one and a quarter mile away (I walk it in a isk 20-25 minute walk)
-Bus stop is a block away, and during rush hour the buses come about every 5 to 10 minutes. It's an easy ride to either the Silver Spring or Takoma Park Metro.
-It's on the University of Maryland bus route
-Easy access to beltway
-2 GREAT parks each about 5 blocks away (great hike/bike path in Sligo Creek!)
-Plenty of on street parking
-Radiator heat (included in the rent)
-Nice shared patio with gas grill
-Near Adventist University and Urgent Care, 1 block off Flower Avenue
