Find a Ruston Apartment

Ruston may be a small, Louisiana city, but it has been enjoying steady growth over the last several years. The town has experienced growth of over 6% between 2010 and 2013, with a present population of nearly 22,000. Louisiana Tech University is found in Ruston, and the student body is one of the most important drivers of the local economy.

Louisiana Tech enrolls roughly 11,000 students each year. There are five colleges at the University, including Applied and Natural Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering and Science and Liberal Arts. There is a residency requirement that requires students to live on campus for two years of their education, but after that requirement is met, many move off-campus. The school is also active in athletics, with the men's Bulldogs and the Lady's Techsters both being well supported by the people of Ruston.

When to Search

Louisiana summers can be hot and muggy, but that doesn't change the fact that this is the best time to apply for an apartment in this town. Ruston apartments will be prime for the picking between June and August, so that is the best time to start combing the ads.

Staying in the Know

Show up ready to fill out an application on the spot. Ruston landlords are going to have more than one person interested in any half-decent apartments that are up for rent. If you take your application home or if you need to think about anything, there is always a good chance that someone else will end up getting the apartment before you even throw your hat in the ring.

Life in Ruston

Transportation

Ruston lacks any organized form of public transportation. However, most don't find that this is missed. The town is small enough that you can walk or bike just about everywhere. Some students note that the campus is slightly removed from some key shopping outlets, which makes having a car useful.

Where to play

Heading to Louisiana Tech for Bulldogs and Techsters games is one of the most popular forms of local entertainment. Louisiana Tech has produced some world-class athletes, including the legendary Terry Bradshaw. Military buffs should visit the Louisiana Military Museum. For some great food, pay a visit to Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers or Ponchatoulas.
