Recently an innocent man was shot several times while on the property, to which management responded by calling it an "incident." The Vie at Raleigh suggests to their residents that they are protected, yet their private security company ended the contract due to lack of payment. The Vie also ensures their residents that anyone living here has passed a background check. However, this assumes that even though someone were able to successfully clear the background check they are unlikely to commit a crime. Example, the shooter involved on August 27, 2017 had no prior police involvement/record and still committed an atrocious act of violence. In the past 2 years, Raleigh police have responded to this property alone 250 times, primarily for gunshots, break-ins, and loud parties. If that weren't enough, take the fact that they will skyrocket your rent after renewing your lease (to the tune of $164 more per month after renewal). There are also reports all over the news that they failed to adequately clean the units in preparation for new residents this year and one resident had a venomous snake enter her unit, to which management provided little help. It would benefit the entire student body and other potential residents to know that the clubhouse and model apartment you are shown before moving in is by no means even a remotely close representation to what your living experience will be like. You will be living with dangerous criminals, people who have no sense of community or responsibility (blaring music at 3 am, leaving piles of garbage all over the property, shooting guns, etc.), and dealing with customer service representatives who are completely incompetent. Your neighbors will fail to take out their trash and leave piles of garbage outside their door which will attract cockroaches and rodents (very common both inside units and around the property). You might want to learn how to do basic repairs, as maintenance will be inadequate, to the point where they will tell you on your Resident Portal (or e-mail) that your issue was resolved when in fact no maintenance employee responded to the issue at hand, it will be merely dismissed and ignored. Management is just as proficient (or lack thereof) as those whom they employ and will take an unreasonable amount of time to process any questions/concerns. You have a better chance of nailing jello to a wall. This is your warning; do not live here. If you can, run far away.
