Sunnyside-Hawthorne Apartment Guide

Sunnyside-Hawthorne Neighborhood Summary

Sunnyside-Hawthorne is one of the cultural hubs of the city, though it has a distinctly “alternative” feel when compared to other artsy Portland neighborhoods. This neighborhood is known for its vibrant, youthful population, consisting primarily of Generation X’s and hipsters. Part of what attracts the young and alternative to this neighborhood is the numerous local boutiques, eateries, breweries, bookstores, and cafes lining its streets. One of the neighborhood’s most prized landmarks is the Baghdad Theater and Pub, a hip movie theater and brewery that premiered One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in 1975. There are numerous types of housing in Goose Hollow, including old Victorians and bungalows. This is a great option for young professionals or students of the nearby Reed College.
