I've lived in Buckman Terrace for 3.5 years now and have really enjoyed it. Is this place perfect? No, but I am renting and anyplace you are renting will always have its quirks. For Portland, I have read horror stories of renters on r/Portland and Buckman is a dream compared to some of them. Anything that has broken has been replaced/fixed very timely, the staff are nice and friendly, folks in the building are very friendly, there have been no domestic issues since I've lived here, noise is not too bad although the current folks above us are a little heavy footed, the park behind the building is amazing if you have a dog or enjoy exercise, proximity to transit is about as good as it gets, and there are tons of good food/beer options nearby. My biggest issue in the 3.5 years I've lived here has been some theft in the bike rooms. I (foolishly) have had two sets of bike lights stolen and since do not leave the lights on my bikes. I know a more expensive bike than my own looked to have been stolen as the lock was left on the bike room floor. This is something that happens in shared spaces; cameras may help mitigate this but I've been told they would be too expensive. There is an amazon lock box in the lobby and so there is no problem with package theft. My fianc and I want to eventually buy in the next few years and it's going to be hard to leave this place. The location for Buckman Terrace is certainly what makes it, but this building is by far one of the better ones I've heard of. In 3 years, I have very minimal complaints all things considered.
