I moved in about 2 weeks ago. I'll update my review when my year lease ends.
I recently had moved down to Phoenix and had housing set up with a friend , but there was a miscommunication somewhere and when I showed up, he was on a different continent ,on vacation. So I was stuck with a difficult situation. New to a city, no place to live, no job yet.
The staff at Villa Tuscano went out of their way to get me into an apartment a day after I applied. I paid the entire lease upfront , so I'm sure that helped their decision lol.
I got a studio on the first floor and was very pleased with the design. I haven't had any noise issues other than the landscapers showing up at 6am with their blowers. This week, thankfully, they started at 8am.
The Apartment was filthy, I'm not going to lie. They replaced the appliances with new, cheap brands that seem functional and left dirt and scrapes on the floor. Just walking through the place once with socks on, my socks were black. I attributed it to them getting me into the apartment on such short notice, sob it was no big deal.
There was an immediate bug issue. Not roaches, but just everyday Arizona critters. They sprayed and it kept them out for a week. But everyone I know, house or apartment, has bugs. Its Arizona, everytjing wants to live with you! There's a difference between roaches and local wildlife. Apartments on the second or third floors shouldn't have these issues. It isnt am infestation, just a stupid beetle or 2 that squeezed under the door.
The condition of the studio apartment was nice. They are old though. The kitchen cabinets are study, but could definitely use updated, and the kitchen is very small, with a portion of space being taken by a small water heater. The maintenance staff painted over everything and I mean everything when they touched up the place. They glued all the vents tob the walls and ceiling and they painted the dust and dirt as well.
The bathroom is very small and was dirty as well. The plumbing on the sink was actually undone and I didn't see that until I flooded my bathroom why trying to shave. 5 minnutes and i fixed it myself. Not sure why it was undone. The shower was dirty, but again I attributed it to them getting me into the place on such short notice, so no big deal. I immediately had to replace the showerhead, that took another 5 minutes. But you have a nice big mirror and room to keep toiletries.
The studios have a bedroom niche and it's wonderful! It's very small, but very nice and works wonderfully if you aren't a packrat.
There are only 2 windows , both in the same location, so there is zero airflow in the place unless you have a fan blowing towards the open patio door. But even on a 98 degree day, my apartment never got over 80 degrees. Noise levels are minimal. I hear the elephant upstairs once in a while, but that's it. You have the occasional screaming kid somewhere, but for the most part this place is pretty quiet. And it's gated at night.
Parking is severely limited on the inside. There are a very limited amount of open spaces and those are all filled by 4 pm so any guests will have to park outside.
The complex itself is a block away from any main streets and mot near the freeway, so there is hardly any traffic noise. It's also a block or 2 always from everything you coukd want. Grocery store, lots of restaurants, 2 gyms, Wal-Mart, a movies theater, ect. That was a major deciding factor and it's still a few blocks from the freeway so maybe 5 minutes tob get back on I17.
All in all, I've never been this pleased with an apartment before! With some updates, Villa Tuscano would truly be a gem. But I'm pretty happy as is.
