THEFT! THEFT! THEFT! I had over $600 in tools stolen out of my car then 6 months later I had $3000 of tools ect. stolen out of my garage. (Mind you we had been asking the complex to fix the lights for 8 months before my car got broken into)
MAINTENANCE! MAINTENANCE! MAINTENANCE! The maintenance crew that they have there are worthless! I moved in with a wall that was ripped out by the previous tenant and when I asked for them to come and fix it all they did was look at it and say "THIS IS HOW ALL THE UNITS ARE" and they never fixed it!
LOCKS! LOCKS! LOCKS! Watch out because your neighbors key might open your door or even your garage. My house key opened up my neighbors garage and my other neighbors house key opened my house door so in my opinion nothing is secure there!

Watch out because I signed my lease under false pretense as Nilda just lied to me to get men to sign the lease. I Asked her two SPECIFIC QUESTIONS before I signed the lease
ONE; do you allow people to rent garages that don't live here? She said "NO" which I found out later that they do!
TWO; I asked her if I could have my big grill which she assured me I could then right after I moved in and got my grill set up she told me I could not have it!

Its a must that you copy your move in inspection check list because they tend to lose/misplace them.
I've been waiting on the return of my deposit since July 31st. I just had to pick it up from the office because they Knowingly mailed it to the address I just moved out of! Then when I go to pick it up they charged me a $40 late fee (which I've NEVER been late) as you can see below the check cleared on the 1st and they charged me a late fee on the 2nd. Not to mention Nilda started to open up my mail while I was standing there! She committed a FEDERAL CRIME while doing so & I WANT HER PROSECUTED!
So of you MUST rent from this place take pictures and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!

I have been here almost 2 years now. I cant say enough good things about this place. The pool is quite and comfortable to lie out by . Every maintenence issue we have ever had has been fixed in a timely mannor as well as above expectation. I have three children and the schools around stonybrook are second to none ... great place to raise a family and a pretty safe place to do so as well . In two years i have only seen the police called once. Remember what your expecting when you come to apartments that are 25 plus years old. They are old . Their is going to be plumbing issues there is going to be out dated appliances.. however all is well maintained to the best expectation. Yes their are families here so yea their are kids in the naighborhood . However i have never had anything of mine stolen or vandalized. I can go on and on about how great these guys are. From the maintenance to the office crew. I wish their was a way to tell how many of these bad reviews are actually people that parted on bad terms and just have sour grapes . DO NOT MOVE IN HERE! I have various reasons. First one being there is no parking so don't plan on having a parking spot if you move one. Second the maintenance man walks right in to your home without giving a 24 hour notice, he uses his key and enters your home unwelcomed. Third the townhomes are built terribly and we have had a MAJOR issue with flooding, finally after complaining so many times they just pulled the carpet back and placed a fan near it to dry it. Also they are infested with bugs and that is a BIG no no. If you're considering moving to Stonybrook and I would not recommend.

They seem to not care about the residents only the money for you to Pay rent. I had live in damage typical with kids and they gave me one of the worst reviews ive ever had and now it's making me struggle to find another place to live. I also know ppl who live there currently in my old apt and they didn't replace or fix anything and moved them in within a week of me moving out. Everyone i know that still lives there complains. I do not recommend living here

My son rents an apartment at Beacon Hills. Twice now after a rain, his dining room light/fan fixture leaks water. Were told by the office that the water blows under the shingles during severe weather. Might want to hire a better roofing company, as someone may get electrocuted and you might find yourself in a lawsuit.

Our townhouse had mold on the basement wall. We called it in and a maintenance worker looked at it. He said he had to go get supplies and never came back. 4 weeks later we called it in again. A maintenance worker cleaned the wall with bleach, but in a matter of days the mold returned. Finally gave up, called code enforcement, and gave management 30 days to fix it or we were moving out (city also informed us we had an water heater that didn't have a permit) .
They made another attempt to repair it by cleaning and painting the wall. Then they immediately had a mold test done that passed. However, 2 weeks later the mold appeared again. We swabbed it and sent it in for testing.... Same molds as before.
We left as we had stated in our 30 day notice due to the ongoing mold issue. Their response was to send us a bill for over $5,000 for the remainder of our lease with 30 days to pay or be turned over to collections. The kicker was they had already released the property! Had to spend $750 (out of my pocket) in attorney fees to get it taken care of. If you find yourself having to rent from this company make sure you document EVERYTHING!

She's called Jamie with no response. So, Jamie, since read these, you might want to do something about the A/C because I am only going to get LOUDER!!!

The only good thing you have going for this complex is Nilda. She is professional, nice, and I think honest. My daughter is renting an apartment here, and Nilda has bent over backwards to help her. Upper management, however, is a different story. Rude, uncaring--what a HORRIBLE way to run a business!! Who makes an appointment with a tenant to go over things and comes through the apartment when the tenant isn't there??? My daughter's main complaint is the cat pee smell in the apartment. It was very apparent from the walk through that management knew about the smell--all the windows were open and there were air fresheners plugged in all the wall sockets. I paid out to have the carpets cleaned after my daughter moved in. Still cat pee smell. It's in the carpet, the pad, the floor board, and the base board. Management (Jamie) would rather think my daughter is a liar than do the right thing and replace all of it. Really, Jamie, would you want to live in a place that smelled that bad??? And, really, Jamie, would you want to live in a place where every time you turned on the A/C, it shut off all your electricity? These apartments are a dump. My daughter will be looking to get out ASAP. I will be calling the city too to report what's going on there. Slum lords, that's what this company is. DON'T RENT FROM THEM!!!!!

Cockroaches infest the whole block disgusting. Will be moving for certain. Parking is nonexistent especially for guest/visitors. Kitchen needs updated. Walls are paper thin.

I don't even know if this apartment complex deserves one star. We moved in the summer of 2012 and at the start it wasn't bad but then it got to the point where I hated coming home. The management was changed at least 2 times in the two years that we lived there. I loved the manager Sarah when we first got there she was nice and friendly and always helped and made sure things were done. When they changed to a new management it was horrible. They were rude and I would call in maintenance requests and they would not be fulfilled. The maintenance guy shouldn't even be able to have this job because he does such a horrible job. He would half ass everything and actually make it worse. My roommate had to go fix what he tried to fix. SO LAZY! Another thing the people that live there let their kids run loose. In the street, on people's front porches, being destructive etc. The windows suck they don't keep any cold air in so in the summer it feels like a complete hot box. Our OPPD was through the roof during the summer months- and i mean through the roof! Oh and they NEVER have the pool open on time. Its July 1st and its still not open it was the same problem last summer, they don't know how to take care of the pool. I would highly recommend not going to these apartments they are not worth the money!

I have lived here for 3 months and have found the only difference between Stony Brook Apartments/Townhomes and the projects is the location. Be very careful if you are thinking about moving here. You will NEVER see a maintenance person, it doesn't matter if you report a problem or not, I've asked for several things to be fixed since the day I moved in and I have never had a maintenance person show up. I was told over a holiday weekend that I would have to go with out a kitchen sink until Tuesday because they didn't work weekends or holidays. They are the most deceptive people I've ever come in contact with. There was a garage door opener in my townhouse when I viewed the property and it was gone when I moved in. I requested they put it back in and I was told I needed to buy one, have their people install it and it had to stay here when I move. Since I have a handicapped child, the garage door opener was necessary so after explaining that to management and being told I had to follow their rules, I reported them to the Housing Authority and consulted an attorney. For the over $1000 I pay a month for this dump, there is no washer/dryer, microwave, garage door opener, clean carpet, the list goes on and on. What you do get is: bugs, spiders, dirty carpet that you are told you have to clean yourself, toilets that don't work more often than they do, water leaks that are ignored by management, visitor's cars towed away for no reason what so ever, etc. I truly wish I would have NEVER heard of this dump! And I can't wait until my lease is up so I can get out of here! Granted, I was sucked in by the free months rent they offered when I was looking but it was so not worth it! This will be the longest year of my life!
