As a parent of three students who either currently live there or have lived at this center, we give it high praise for many reasons, some which include: the vibrant community fostered, the faith formation encouraged, the dorm rooms, and the parameters set up for residents.
The community fostered there is so important, especially in the time in which we live. It is vibrant and joyful. There are frequent community social events, such as dances and Thursday "community nights" where fun events are planned. There are often, if not always, treats such as doughnuts after Sunday morning Mass during the school year. In addition, students are often seen hanging out in the plentiful common areas with their friends. The atmosphere there lends itself to creating new friendships. It was great to see our kids form many new friendships.
While living at the center, the faith of my daughter who graduated grew much stronger and I can say the same for my current kids who live there now. There are so many ways that faith is fostered: a beautiful oratory in which the students can pray at many hours of the day and night, Bible studies, guided Holy Hours, daily and Sunday Masses, speaking events related to the faith, frequent opportunities for Confession, and the presence of Focus Missionaries. The priests who serve the students there are a great fit, and so encouraging and joyful.
The dorm rooms are a great set up, with a communal kitchen and living room area. The bedrooms are bright with a window in each room. The kitchens have ample space and are the perfect size for their needs. The RA's seem to be very responsive and helpful in navigating situations that need attention. There are great study areas around the building and space for small, medium, and large student gatherings.
In comparison to the other dorms on campus, we appreciated the expectations set for those living there. Although they hold the students to higher standards, they are reasonable and allow them a great amount of freedom.
I can't imagine a better place to live and grow in faith and foster lifelong friendships!
