New Castle is a quaint historic town that sits on the banks of the Delaware River. With a population of just over 5,000 people, this town is large enough to have some quality amenities for its citizens, while providing all of the benefits to be found in small town living. The town was settled more than 350 years ago by the Dutch West India Company. After several name and ownership changes, the town came to be called New Castle in 1664. There is a historic district in downtown New Castle that contains several buildings that are hundreds of years old.

There are a handful of colleges within commuting distance of New Castle, including Wesley College and the Delaware Technical Community College. Just to the north in Wilmington is also the Wilmington Campus for the University of Delaware. Some people prefer to live in New Castle as opposed to nearby larger centers, as it can provide a quiet pace and small town atmosphere that just can't be matched in larger centers.
