Downtown Neighborhood Summary

After decades of decline, downtown Nashville began an ongoing revitalization project in the early 1990s with the construction of Bridgestone Arena. The project was part of a major effort to attract visitors and businesses to the struggling city center. Now, The Ryman Auditorium has been restored, the honky tonks on Broadway are a major draw, and the city is investing millions in refurbishing Riverfront Park. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the new Music City Center, and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center all call the neighborhood home, as do increasing numbers of renters.

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
