Me and my girlfriend were among the first group of residents who have been living here since the summer of 2015. Despite our decisions to not renew this year and start looking for another community to rent with, our experience during the past three years has been generally positive here at Avalon Marlborough.
Pros:
Like any other Avalon communities, this property is managed professionally by a team of dedicated staff. You can rest assured that the work ethic of the staff here is impeccable and you wont have to deal with 99% of the rental home shenanigans here.
Weve had absolutely no issue with the apartment we are living in and a few quick fixes during our stay were all handled swiftly by the friendly on-site technicians.
The apartment is truly energy efficient and you could expect a monthly electric bill well below $100 and a gas bill well below $50 for a 1-bedroom.
Cons:
Everything good about this place comes with its price. On top of the expensive rent you are already paying here, you could count on a $120+ monthly rent hike each time you are due for a renewal. And thats only for the smallest 1-bedroom apartment which weve been renting. Eventually, after the third hefty rent hike, we simply decided thats not worth it for us anymore. As a result, if your plan is to stay here long-term, you would want to take that into consideration as well.
Throughout the years, weve been dealing with a lingering problem of lost packages here at Avalon Marlborough. Overall, weve lost more than $500 worth of packages throughout our stay here. And during the last year, weve lost every, single, one of our packages delivered on a Sunday. I dont want to act as the plaintiff, judge, and jury all at once here in terms of dividing the blames between Avalon and the carriers, but the reality was that despite our repetitive complains and the management teams efforts in getting this issue resolved, its actually getting worse in our case during the last year of our stay.
