We moved our daughter here in August, 2021. A warning that these apartments have no living room - 2 good-sized bedrooms, a tiny bathroom, & a tiny kitchen. I was surprised that, upon her assigned move-in time, the apartment had not been cleaned AT ALL. There was rotting food in a cardboard box which was leaking onto the kitchen floor. In the bedroom, there were wadded-up globs of Kleenex under the bed along with used underwear. This apartment is extremely basic; it serves the needs of a college lifestyle. Pros: all utilities & laundry are included, roommate matching works well, & tenants are on individual leases so you never are responsible for your roomate's bills.

The place is really great and safe. I am staying there for last 6 months. One of my friend was looking for some apartment in this area. I have already suggested him to stay in Highlander. The place is really quiet and the place is also close to university campus. There is a bus stop, just 2 min away from Highlander Apartment. The staff is very helpful. I will suggest others stay in Highlander.

I've been living in Highlander for 10 months and so far so good. The staff is super helpful and they always make us feel comfortable. For example, I requested to move to an apartment on a higher floor and I was very happy that my request was heard. Yes, the apartment is small, but that is why it is cheap. The location is perfect and the fact of having all the utilities included in the price is something very attractive. I would definitely recommend the company.

I lived at the Highlander for a about 14 months, and I had a very good experience. Pros: * Pretty good value. Though the apartments are tiny, finding an apartment that costs less than the Highlander can be a difficult prospect if you're limited to searching online. * Roommate matching. If you're moving to Madison from out of town (like I was) it can be hard to find a roommate to split rent. The Highlander offers roommate matching, and I got a really compatible roommate for the bulk of the time I was there. Nice to have another person around, and your rent is way cheaper. * International students. I'm from the US, but I really enjoyed interacting with all the international folks I met at the Highlander. While I lived there I had roommates from Germany, Italy, and Ireland, and there are many more nationalities represented in the residents. Kind of fun. * Great service. The staff had a little turnover while I was there, but everyone I interacted with was great. They offered to bring packages up to my room when I wasn't going to be around during office hours to pick them up myself. I requested maintenance several times and got prompt service to fix the problem each time. Cons: * Tiny apartments. Really tiny. If you're looking to live on the cheap, this helps, but don't expect to be having more than one or two friends over if you're sharing a two bedroom with a roommate. * Old. The building has seen quite a few years, and I think a lot of residents are pretty rough on the place. The walls were full of patched holes when I got there with slightly mismatched paint. The oven was so dirty that I couldn't use it all year because it smoked up the kitchen so easily (with the smoke alarm seriously five feet away). The elevator went out on multiple occasions, once lasting for a week—which is rough when you're on the ninth floor. All things considered, I think you get what you pay for with the Highlander, and then some.
