I moved in Friday March 31st 2017. My son was due April 4th and our move in date was the 1st which was a Saturday and since the office isn't open Saturday we asked (a week in advance) if we could move in a day early and were happily told we could move in the 30th. I was later called and told the 31st at 10a.m. and then again called to be told 3p.m. which was fine except upon arrival our apartment had just been painted with walls wet to the touch we couldn't move anything in. We noticed our bathroom ceiling caving told maintenance and the manager right away and informed them we would be in the hospital all week so they had free range. When we got back there was a gaping hole in the ceiling and all of our lights had been left on, moreover my family and I twice relocated for the day to give the complex time to finish without having a baby around and we were then asked twice more to find somewhere else for a day at a time. in addition to the ceiling issue the carpet was lifted in one of the closets (this never did get fixed) and the threshold was entirely missing so when it rained right as we arrived home with our newborn we had to put towels in front of our door to prevent the rain from flooding our apartment, which happened anyways when we turned on our dishwasher. It took a total of a month to get the hole fixed, and a month and a half to get our threshold fixed and never received an apology about our $200 LP&l bill from maintenance leaving our lights on. We were supposed to have a 6month lease but the manager wrote the contract for 7 and rushed us to sign by telling us there was another couple looking at the apartment in a couple of hours and i needed to sign or it could possibly be unavailable. Labor day weekend our a/c went out and took 3 days to fix in the hottest weekend of the summer of 2017 (103 +) so we again had to relocate with our 3mo baby, the infamous water issues you'll hear about from everyone our water was off every week for at least a full day at a time the longest span being 3-4 days with no forewarning or any sense of urgency to get it resolved. One of the dumpsters went a month without being tended to resulting in and overpopulation of insects. The apartment manager was never in the office and never answered the phone meaning we had to drop our notice in the mail slot and upon move out we were told we owed two months of rent because we had only dropped our notice off 3 days prior (we were out of town so this wasn't even possible) when I asked for a dated copy the manager literally wrote "October 27th" on our notice at the bottom and scanned it over to me that way. They charged me for a carpet cleaning and a basic clean totalling in an additional $200 that was never part of my contact and never actually done, when I stopped by a month later the apartment was untouched blinds drawn and all, I tried to email the parent company with no response. All in all a nightmare to deal with and Stonelake on 7414 Elgin Ave is far better!
