Where do I begin... Ive been living in Trappers Cove for a year. The first thing that bit me in the bum about this apartment complex was that my key lock was hanging from the door when I first moved in. It was literally hanging, as if someone kicked the door in. I called maintenance to fix it, as my door was not secured. They came by to check it out and told me that that was standard for the locks there. So, I grabbed a butter knife and fixed it myself. Next, there was an incident where my car was broken into in the parking lot. I asked my neighbors if their vehicles were okay, they said yeah, this time. Two of my neighbors had had their cars broken into in seperate occasions in the past. The parking lots are not patrolled or secured, so theres nothing they can do about that. Next, back in February, I misplaced my key after a drunken night out. I came home around 3 in the morning and realized my key was missing so I called emergency maintenance for help. The guy gets there 2 hrs later to inform me that I dont have a file with them (have been living there for almost a year at the point) and that he could not open the door for me because of that and because my address didnt match my ID. I literally went to the mail box and showed him how my name matched the name on the mail with that address. Again, I was drunk, so unfortunately things escalated to where he threatened to call the police and his supervisor on me. The supervisor comes and opens the door. Its probably 6 in the morning at this point. It was an extremely dramatic ordeal that couldve easily been avoided. When you havent paid rent on time, they come and do an occupancy check where maintenance comes in your apartment without any notice at all. Once, they told me that I could pay my rent using a personanal check. I went to the leasing office with my check, the lady showed me where to sign off and who to sign it off to. I get a call 2 days later informing me that they dont accept personal checks and that they would be taping my check in an envelope to my door. This is not a gated community with controlled access to the apartments (clearly) so why would they think thats okay? My apartment has been broken into while I was at work. It does not feel safe there. And the leasing office is absolutely unorganized. During sign up for an apartment, they dont tell you anything until the month of your move in, which is inconvenient if your someone like me who plans accordingly. All-in-all, avoid trappers cove. It paints a pretty picture, thats it.
