Don't ask for much from a property manager. Unprofessional. Will do anything in their power to take your money. You are treated solely as a number, not as a resident, it is very evident that they are only concerned about taking your money. You get what you pay for.

I really don't understand all the bad reviews, either. I've been renting from Old Town Lofts for almost two years. I'm in love with my unit. I've never had a major maintenance issue, but any time I've needed a small repair done, the office and maintenance staff are right on it. The maintenance guys are so friendly and polite! The office staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Derek is my go-to, but anyone else I've ever spoken with has been wonderful. I'm looking forward to renewing my lease again this year!

Lived in one of their buildings for four years now and couldn't be happier. I know everybody in the office by name, they drop me a birthday card and holiday gift baggies, and they always fix my maintenance request within 24 to 48 hours. Don't listen to the nay-sayers. They're probably people who never paid rent and were evicted. I love my digs.

Literally cannot wait until my lease is up here. The apartment management people Suck. Seriously, where do they get the girls they hire? So mean and stuck up. The walls are super thin, and the doors slam automatically so it sucks. Most neighbors are obnoxious and are loud in the hallways which is VERY annoying I could go on and on seriously but my advice is to not rent from these people!

Like any apartment, if you have to deal with management, you probably did something wrong. The apartments are great. Derrick always helps us however...

Old Town Lofts TAKES ADVANTAGE of their renters. Our first electric bill for a 750 sq foot apartment was $700!!! We were so surprised and management wouldn't help rectify the situation. Instead they stated that engineering said our AC wasn't broken and it was just an old building. Apparently they forgot to tell us that we have a vent connected to the hall and the lease states we must pay for it. WE ARE LITERALLY PAYING TO PROVIDE AC FOR THE ENTIRE FLOOR. IT'S RIDICULOUS. DO NOT rent from here. The place is small, the upkeep is terrible and they are very unprofessional and untrustworthy. You would waste your time and money with this dump.

I would give it at least 4 stars based on the loft alone, but the poor service almost makes it impossible to. Not all of the staff are rude, but the management is terrible. Speaking with them is like speaking to a brick wall. We had a discrepancy about what was said on the lease vs. what they were telling us. Needless to say, the manager couldn't waive the late fee (even though we read on here that a late fee has been waived before). My biggest issue was that when signing the lease we asked about the policy (one of their staff told us what it meant on the lease), we paid it the same time last month (with no late fee being charged), and we even drew out what the lease said. Still, they would not waive us this FIRST late fee even though it was due to their inconsistent stories. Now, onto the loft. The lofts are great. Nice view (you get what you pay for), the building is clean (for the most part), and they're pretty roomy. My only complaints are the noise (the walls are like paper thin) and the high electricity bill (what they don't tell you is that your electricity bill can add up anywhere from $200-300). Keep that in mind when you rent here. I was considering releasing here but after the way we've been treated by management and the high costs of electricity, we will take our business elsewhere.

Yes, I agree with other reviewers completely... Management is like talking to a brick wall. Don't be a second late on your lease payment, for they will assess a $50 late charge in a New York minute. Don't pay it, no problem. They will assess another $50 the next month. Did I fail to say, there is an additional $2 per day penalty! Wow, their "other income" account on their financial statements must look quite nice...

Not to discount other reviews, but I think it's a known fact that generally, reviewers only express their dissatisfaction. I truly feel the need to counter this, and I will as concisely as possible. To begin, I had a credit issue. The agent that showed me this space was extremely understanding and went out of her way to help me resolve it. I'm positive she could have easily rented it within a week, but she was patient and got me into a space that i love. On a Friday at 4:30p, I realized I had lost my keys on a job site, and I would not be able to get back before the office 5p closing time. At 5:30, maintenance met me in the lobby with a fresh cut key. They did not charge me the $45 after hours fee. Very cool of them. While picking up a package at the office, i casually mentioned that my thermostat was displaying "low battery". Within 10min. of me being home, maintenance was replacing it. What has really prompted me to write this, is that when I picked up packages today at the office, a leasing agent did not take no for an answer when she asked if she could help bringing them to my car. It was 13 degrees outside. There is more, but I have had nothing but great experiences with this staff/management.

Have just renewed because I love the cost of living. Unfortunately, with a low cost of living comes service that leaves much to be desired. When the elevator goes down (frequently), you have to pester the staff to send someone out. The drain to my bathtub has never held water even though, they have fixed it. And, once, they installed the coin-less system on the washers and dryers, my floor's dryer has never been in service. The floor above me has a washer that will not do a hot cycle. This means I walk my laundry 2 floors up or one floor down the do it. So, my friends love hanging out at my place before a night out and the view is so great for a low cost, but, next year I will be ready to move.

I've lived in Columbia Lofts for almost two years and am renewing my lease for a third. The loft is as cute as they come - everyone compliments me on how much they like it. The location and price can't be beat. The building is small and quiet and the residents are friendly. As far as management, I haven't had any problems. I agree that the girls in the office can come off as rude, but if you're nice to them they reciprocate. They just hired some new people in the office and it appears as though they're attempting to improve on 'customer relations'. Every time I've had a maintenance concern they've respond immediately, including the emergency request in the middle of the night. The repair men and cleaning ladies are nice. The one time I was accidentally late with my rent they (reluctantly) waived the late fees, which are high. It did take a year to get my name on the call box so I could buzz people in, but honestly I think that was a fluke. I have a friend who lives in another building and his name was on the call box while we were moving him in. I've lived in 3 other apts/lofts/townhomes in KC and I really like this place. I don't see myself moving away anytime soon.
