Union Hill Neighborhood Summary

Wedged between 27th and 31st streets, Union Hill is one of Kansas City’s oldest neighborhoods. Aesthetically, the area has kept its historic appeal, with old stonework outlining large yards and blacktop streets giving way to aged brick paving. Many of the apartments and rentals in Union Hill are in renovated homes or buildings with classic brick architecture and tons of charm — many apartments even have a view of the downtown Kansas City skyline. Restaurants, bars and shops are all within blocks — which makes Union Hill extremely walkable — plus Crown Center, Broadway Gillham and the Crossroads Arts District are just minutes away. Just to the west is Penn Valley Park, with miles of bike trails and an off-leash dog park. Given its proximity to Kansas City’s Hospital Hill and the UM-KC campus, Union Hill is a main spot for student apartments.
