There are a few bicycle and walking trails in Joliet, but to really travel anywhere, there are public transportation options. The Metra rail to Chicago has two route’s last stops in Joliet, as does the STAR line. Amtrak also has a stop in town. PACE is a bus service that runs every day but Sunday through Joliet. Since JJC is a commuter college, most students have cars. Chicago is a little under an hour away for those seeking tons of nightlife options, but Joliet has its own little thing going too. The Department has an outdoor balcony which draws a crowd, and the food is pretty good, too! The Heroes sports bar is one of the most popular bars in the vicinity, though it can get mixed reviews depending on the quality of the staff that night. There’s a Hooters in Joliet, too, though a Hooters is a Hooters wherever you go. The Chicago Street Pub has great bar food, fun music, and is overall a great Irish pub. McBrody’s is less than a half mile, easily walking distance, to Harrah’s Casino which may help its popularity. Lastly, Jameson’s Pub is popular for those wanting to get really intoxicated for cheap.
