All around, I have great things to say about the team members I have interacted with frequently at Edge 35. They are responsive, professional, friendly, and have helped make my move less stressful in a busy market. My unit, an S2 studio floor plan, has been taken care of well and was mostly clean upon my move-in date, although the hard floor clearly had not been swept prior to my arrival (hair from previous tenant, tiny dead millipedes on the floor, dust balls). Not a huge deal as I always plan to deep clean a place prior to living there.
The only thorn in my side about my moving in has been an unexpected shelving system placed in my apartment that is bolted the the floor and trim. It was not mentioned anywhere in my lease, the video tour I was provided of my floor plan, or by anyone who helped me at any point leading up to obtaining my keys. It moves electronically and to access the inner storage you must keep the tracking pathway clear- taking up around 16 total square feet of space. When I saw the shelving, I brought in members of the management team; they seemed surprised at its presence and assumed the previous tenant had left it. They inspected the tracking and concluded it would be no problem to remove it by the beginning of the following week.
Shortly after this interaction, I received an email from the property manager (Brandon) stating that this was standard for the unit and that he was sad to hear I did not like the shelving system. However, if I wanted to delay my move 10 days and give up the current unit I chose for several key reasons, I could take another unit of this floor plan that does not have this standard shelving system. After several rounds of back and forth, there was complete refusal to remove the shelving system or amend the situation in any way that would benefit me. It is also pulling up the flooring it is bolted to in the unit (which seems unsafe considering the weight of the shelving system), causing permanent damage for an unnecessary item that is too large for the unit.
I would happily review the complex at 5 stars if this was resolved as originally planned by the management team. I would not rate this as a tenant-oriented complex, and this experience has certainly dampened the excitement I have had the past month over my move. I do love the location, my unit as was presented to me, and the amenities of Edge 35.
