Downtown Eugene Neighborhood Summary

Eugene’s downtown is concentrated north of 11th Avenue, tucked beneath the Willamette River. With manicured tree-lined streets and rows of pristine storefronts, it’s like a mini-Portland with lighter traffic. It’s also one of the only places outside of Portland where you can grab a Voodoo Donut — that’s right, no half-hour wait in this line. The northern end of Downtown holds a gorgeous landmark: Skinner Butte. The surrounding park, which abuts the river, includes biking and hiking paths to the top, giving you a great view overlooking Eugene. Aside from that nature reprieve — and the adjacent Kiwanis Park and RiverPlay Discovery Village Playground — the rest of Downtown is filled with modern restaurants, hip local shops, galleries, and arts venues, such as WOW Hall and the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. In the middle of it all is Park Blocks, two city blocks holding the Eugene Saturday Market and the Lane County Farmers Market. Apartments in downtown Eugene can be a little trickier to find than in nearby areas, like the West University neighborhood, but the options are there if you start looking early.
