Claims to offer the highest level of quality service to their residents and have won a customer service award 9 years in a row. The people passing out that grade clearly aren't assessing the lack of customer service at the East Lansing location. I have only lived here 4 months now and the maintenance staff has left the door to my apartment unlocked twice now, while I'm not home, both in the first month of living here: great first impression. They must be hiring their maintenance staff from the homeless line in front of the Burger King nearby because they don't have enough competence to remember how to leave a building the way they found it. The first time maintenance left my door unlocked after they left (with lights left on) I let it slide, because as their district manager (new and improved management?) would say people make mistakes and there will always be human error. But when I came home late at night after being gone all day, and the door to my apartment was wide open, with maintenance's keys still in the door, and all the lights left on, with no sign of maintenance around, I was furious. What if I had a dog and it got out? What if all of my things were stolen? What if I was a female and there was a rapist waiting inside? The liabilities that Hunters Ridge subject themselves to are endless. If this community wasn't full of rich college kids that drive McLarens, Porsches, Mercedes, and BMWs, all of my belongings would have been stolen in a heartbeat. What is even more unsettling is that it took over a MONTH for Hunters Ridge management to give me an explanation as to why they do what they do; after ME reaching out to them relentlessly through emails, phone calls, and in person visits. They claim they left me one voicemail but there is no proof of it. After me calling their district manager (who I asked to get ahold of), she let me know that, "We are all very sorry and upset for what happened, Jimmy feels really bad about it too. We have handled the issue internally and Jimmy is still employed here. What would you like us to do? In my 30 years of experience I have never seen anyone give away free rent due to human error." In my 14 years of customer service experience, I have never seen the customer not offered a deal, whether monatarily, or replacement of product, to make things right. Hunters Ridge charges way too much to offer such poor customer service: their maintenance and management staff are a complete joke. I should have read reviews online before trusting one referral source to these apartments. And yes, the bug problem and paper thin walls are issues too. But those things can be overlooked compared to staff leaving your safety at risk. I highly recommend you do your research before shelling out thousands of dollars to move here.
