Please read the following before considering this apartment complex: My lease was from August 17, 2017 to July 31, 2018 (11 months and 14 days). However, by using 12 installments in the text instead of monthly rent (which they used in their conversations), they forced me to pay for the whole year. They didnt call my attention to this fact while marketing for their complex and before signing the contract. To me, this is dishonesty. The staff were really nice, but they hardly responded to my requests. I had grave difficulty getting hold on them through phone or email. For example, I had to ask them three or four times just for emailing me a form (early evacuation form) or giving me my mailbox key. Let alone other requests such as fixing my bathroom fan. I could never see or talk to the management regarding early move out. You could hardly feel the physical presence of the management at the office. Also, it is impossible to move out early. They will have you find someone who would want to take over your lease with a higher rent. Their justification is that they wouldn't give the new tenant the offer that they gave to you when you moved in, so the new tenant should pay a higher rent. The contract indicated that the internet services were covered by the landlord. However, I used to receive monthly internet bills at my door. I couldnt convince the staff to take care of those coming internet bills. According to the contract, the landlord was responsible for gas charges. However, gas and electricity charges would come under one bill (I'm sure many tenants wouldn't notice that). It took me two or three meetings to have them pay the gas portion of the bill. At first, they told me this is the gas used for warming my water, not the gas mentioned in the contract. I found this disrespectful, since it made me feel like they are talking to a child. Finally, I was forced to pay the whole bill myself, and send it to them every month to include the gas charges in my rent. Sometimes I had to email the bill more than once (and ultimately call them in the hope that they would pick up the phone) to have them take care of it. To sum it up, my residence at this apartment complex was marked by inconvenience, lack of professionalism, lack of value, irresponsibility, and one-sidedness. Generally ok location- close to city, park, baseball stadium. Staff and maintenance generally slow and incompetent. Apartments vastly overpriced, as is the case with most student housing in this area. I would suggest trying to find a house to rent, or looking for an apartment that doesn't solely cater to students. You'll get a better value, more respect, and won't have to deal with general apathy towards any issues you might have while living here, which will be abundant because, and I can't stress this enough, the only time they will act like they care is when they think they can rope you into leasing an apartment that would be an insult to anything you know about architecture, design, construction, and general cleanliness.

It was the best apartment before the change it to Rivers Edge. I was paying 530$ for 3 years. When the new manager came they increases the rent up to 610$ on that time. When I decided to move out they gave me only 30$ out of 960$( deposit for two apartments) They will promise you to renew the apartment, but no thing change since then.

Lived here last year and it was mostly terrible. I got fines for leaving a trash bag by my fromt door for 20 minutes before I left the apartment to take trash out about 3-4 times and they refused to take them back. My closet flooded every time it rained and theyd come to fix the problem only to have it happen every time. This led to bed bugs all along the corners of my closet wall. The apartment itself was a good size and good location but its dirty, run under poor management, and maintenance was never effective. Definitely not worth the money.

TERRIBLE MAINTENANCE MANAGER. White guy drives a WHITE SEDAN with tattoos on his legs - old man - currently has a cane and a knee brace on his right leg. TERRIBLE GUY, really. Was visiting a friend there earlier this evening when he mistook my wife and I for HOBOS when we saw a new washer at the garbage area and wanted to look at it. HE ORDERED US, visiting friends of a resident, OFF THE PROPERTY WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING. HE HAD NO PLACE TO DO THAT. Maybe mentally ill? Definitely rude and uncalled for. This complex isn't terrible, but there are better, cheaper options around here for sure. The main problem I have with this place is the feeling of uncleanliness and safety. While the VIP upgrades are beautiful to the eye, the actual apartment units are old and have a poor feel to them, even though they may be visually appealing. For example, I do not trust the water here. Sometimes it comes out cloudy, sometimes it comes out yellow, and sometimes there are weird black specks that come out of it. Maintenance has since fixed the "black speck" problem, and they are amazing people, so I absolutely do not blame them, but I just feel like the complex is so old, there is only so much they can do. Also, the water tends to leave rust stains everywhere. There are rust stains in both toilets of my 2x2 that were not there when I moved in, and my white bathmat just outside of my shower is constantly turning a rusty brown color if I get it wet with the shower water. This does not happen due to regular dirt, as I have another identical bathmat under my sink, which does not ever get wet, and it stays clean. I have to wash that mat constantly, as well as clean the toilets, or else the stains will reappear. The bathrooms constantly have a "dirty pipe" smell, almost like mold. It's so strong that I have to keep the bathroom door closed or the entire place will smell like an old, mildew-y bathroom. No matter how much I clean, I just feel like the pipe lines or something relating to the water just is not right. Many of my silverware and pans will form rust after using the dishwasher, which never happened using the same utensils in other dishwashers such as at my parent's house. It's genuinely concerning because I feel as if something in the water could be bad for my own health. I feel uncomfortable showering. Speaking of pipes, the kitchen sink does not have a garbage disposal, which is extremely annoying when trying to do dishes. You don't realize how much of a luxury a disposal is until you have to scrape old pasta out of a drain with a dirty spoon. I keep my apartment as pristine as possible, as I want to feel clean, but no matter how much cleaning I do, there is always an odd smell in the air. It's almost musty, like something dirty is in the air vents. Overall, it's just a dirty feeling environment and I cannot feel settled here no matter how much I try. There is also a cockroach problem. It was much worse when I first moved in, but I do still see the occasional bug. I fear it'll get worse again as the weather warms up. Also, taking out the trash is pretty annoying if your unit is far from the dumpster. There are no "big trash cans" outside your unit where you can collect all your trash before being able to wheel it over there. I think that would be a nice improvement to fix this issue! Otherwise, you either collect trash bags all over your apartment or you're forced to go to the dumpster very often. Unit wise, it could be a hit or a miss. You could get a unit in a "cozy spot" facing some pretty greenery, or you could be like me and get a unit right next to the stairs that faces the parking lot. The problem with this is that it's loud hearing everyone going up and down the stairs, and everyone can see you on your balcony, so it's not exactly private. Also, your view is a lot less desirable than looking at bright green trees and grass. Anyway, I do think the staff I've met so far has been great, especially Jeremiah. I think they've been as helpful as possible, at least in my personal experience. I just feel like this place can only get "so" good... and it's not worth the money. It's close to campus, but so are a lot of other complexes. I appreciate the staff here, maintenance and office, but I just don't feel comfortable enough here to want to stay after this school year. OH - and one last thing, there is a train that runs directly alongside many of the apartment buildings. I was lucky and got one of those! So, almost every night I am woken up by what sounds like a train horn right inside my bedroom. Be cautious of that!

This apartment complex is okay. From the time I moved in this past August, things were a mess. I took over someone's lease mid-summer after I found out that I didn't get into the school I wanted to transfer to. I needed a place and had liked the apartment complex when I toured it. Though I signed the lease, my name was not switched over on documents for over a month. I was not signed up on any email list and had to contact the office repeatedly in order to get important information like the roommate assignment and documents to have filled out for move in. After a lot of confusing communication, I was at first told I would be by myself in an apartment in the 700 building. A few weeks later, I was told that I had a roommate and I began talking with her. I got my insurance and everything settled for that address, as well as had checks and other sensitive information being sent to that address. My roommate had moved in early and had furniture in the apartment already. When I arrived for move in, the door to the apartment in the 700s was open and the entire apartment was empty. After talking with the front office about what happened, they informed me I had a roommate by another name than one I had previously been assigned. It was really confusing and it turned out that the office messed up with my assignment. They told me I could either move into apartment 1000 something with the girl I had been talking to, change my insurance, and have to forward all of the mail that was already being sent to the 700s address, or I could stay in the 700 apartment by myself for the time. I chose to stay by myself because it was easier than changing all of the information. The next morning, a girl knocked on the door saying she was my roommate, and her name was one of the names I was given in the office when they had messed up. I was a little annoyed and confronted the office about knowing I would have a roommate the whole time, but they denied it. It wasn't a big deal at the time because I figured something like that would happen, so I let it go. My roommate and I do not get along. She is extremely messy, and our personalities do not go together well whatsoever. We could not be more different. There is always some type of food left out during the day, messes all over the floor, and dishes constantly in the sink. Though I have tried to talk with her about cleanliness, I ultimately I had to report her to management because nothing was changing. In our lease, it states that we have the right to a clean environment, and the right to feel comfortable in our apartment. I reported that I do not have a clean environment, and that it makes me very uncomfortable. I told management mid-December and nothing has been done. I have been in the office multiple times to ask what is taking so long and I've been brushed off. I don't want to get upset with the younger staff in the office, (who are usually the only ones there and always really really nice) because it is not their fault but it is extremely frustrating. There are also bugs in the apartment like cockroach nymphs and fully grown cockroaches (probably stemming from the fact that my roommate leaves dirty dishes and food out constantly). Though pest control has been to the apartment frequently, we still see these bugs. The water in the apartment is also not very clean . Any time I fill a pot, cup, or bowl with water, the water is extremely cloudy. Like others have reported, I've also noticed black specks in our water. Through all the negative, there are some nice things about the apartment. The bedrooms are pretty big, and the closets are very very nice. The price is slightly high, but compared to other complexes in the area, it isn't too bad. The shuttle that the complex offers is really great and the drivers are all really friendly. Overall, it certainly isn't the worst place to live but definitely would not be my first choice. I will not be renewing my lease for next year.

This has been the absolute worst experience of my entire life. I am so disappointed that I even have to give them 1 star. When we first moved in our VIP SUITE that we paid EXTRA for was not even ready. We had no TV, hot water, or wifi for over a week. We are students and had to leave our apartment to do our schoolwork until they turned the wifi (which hardly ever works) on. We have had to get almost all of our appliances replaced. The new management is completely clueless and disrespectful. There is no way out of my lease and I have tried everything. We were promised a brand new gym and a new pool which have not been renovated. The pool will not even be available for this summer or spring. We were told we would have a brand new pool for the summer which will not even happen. The machines in the gym are broken and connot even be used. You get towed as a visitor even when the visitors parking lot is FULL. If you want to transfer to a different apartment or even have subleasers take over your lease, you have to pay over $300 just to leave. I highly recommend no one to live here it is a horrible apartment complex. There are bugs everywhere because it is close to the river and we have bugs crawling around and we do not get bug inspector but once every few months to take care of it. They moved 2 HUGE storage units into 4 parking spots that are needed and are taking over the parking lot where I need a space to park. Overall, they are just rude, inconsiderate, useless, and inexperienced. I know a lot of student housing places arent ideal but this is somewhere you DEFINITELY do not want to live.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The new management here is the absolute worst, disrespectful, and inexperienced group. They have no idea how to do their jobs. Once you sign that lease they dont care about you at all. Literally will do anything to get money out of you!!!! When we first moved in to the vip furnished apartment we were without a tv/cable/wifi for weeks into school starting. Since living here we have had to fully replace our washer, dryer, AND water heater after having our water pipes bust at 5 am and waking up to my apartment literally flooding and my living room in puddles (ruining my carpet). Amongst other things happening it has been nothing but stress living here and I cannot wait for my lease to be up. Also there is one small guest parking lot with 15 or so spots for ALL 10 buildings guests to park at. If the parking lot is full you get your car towed or have to go to the front office and pay rivers edge for a guest parking pass just to visit a friend who lives here... pathetic. The area and parking lot is dangerous with no cameras and cars getting broken into. Honestly the only good thing I will say is that maintenance has been helpful and apologized to us multiple times for how incredibly bad our experience here has been.

Honestly this place is not the best for the price. I got a half refurbished apartment which was supposed to be a good thing, but it's lacking some essentials like a garbage disposal and I have to walk pretty far just to dumb my garbage off. Electric nor gas are included, they were at my last apartment for only a little more, and we do not have great cable. There are some pros though: the staff is very nice, and maintenance always handles our requests day-of and I rarely have to call them. Also, this is the perfect complex if you own dogs!!!! Tons of space for them to roam and play, also a nice dog park. Walking distance to campus and the reliable shuttle are big pros Shout out to Clay the maintenance man, he's the best.

Ever since the new company took over and changed it from The Club to Rivers Edge, the quality has taken a nose dive. Sure the complex itself has new signs, a new shuttle, and the front office got a face lift, but that is all surface change to bring in new clients rather than put anything worthwhile into the current renters. The hotwater heater in the unit above mine flooded and pooled over an inch of water into my unit on the ground floor and had to constantly inquire with the front office on how they were going to fix it. Yes, the front office is not maintenance and that is not their job. But any sort of update, timeline, any sort of communication was all initiated by me and it took weeks for the entire situation to be fixed. It took almost two months to get a mail key when everyday the answer I got was, "Check back at the end of the week." I completely understand if you don't know or can't provide a timeline, but then again all you have to do is tell me that. Additionally, what was once free internet now has a $10 monthly charge and it barely passes 1 Mbps, even during the afternoon when most people are not home. Finally, the updated clubhouse with the renovated gym is almost a year behind schedule. River's Edge gives the appearance that it is a good place to live, but it's all surface and not at all worth the price.

My bedroom light was not working, and each time I submitted a service request they came but did not actually fix it. Seriously- they replaced only one bulb when all of them were out, 4 times. Cheap, shameless management. Just don't live here, you don't get what you pay for.

I don't know if they're cockroaches or palmetto bugs but it's gross. I sent a couple of maintenance request and they don't answer. Then I have to personally go to the office and complain where they will check on my problem and not solve until 2 weeks LATER.. it took months for them to fix the huge holes in my ceiling. I had 2 huge holes in my ceiling, mystery black particles coming out of my shower head from time to time, bugs everywhere, and now I have a mouse. They didn't do anything but put two traps in my kitchen BUT IT CAME INTO THE ROOM and was in the living room. I feel disgusting living here. I can't sleep, I can't cook, DO laundry, I even feel uncomfortable showering. I feel so unsanitary here. I thought it was a good apartment complex but now I see how it really is. They didn't do anything about the mouse problem so I have to go buy mouse traps and mouse supplies because they don't do anything about your concerns. They didn't give me roommates so I was luckily able to have an empty room to go to. I have been sleeping there for past couple of nights and continue to sleep there with towels covering every hole and crack. I feel absolutely disgusting and I don't feel comfortable living here. Do not waste money here because they don't care about your concerns. They only care about your money. DO NOT LIVE HERE. THE MOUSE IS STILL ON THE LOOSE. And If I could give them less than one star, I would.

Jeremiah i give him 5 stars.(Don't ever get rid of him, he has such a nice spirit...it wasn't for him I would have left the apt within 2months of my lease)... as for the apartment complex itself (I reported that there were black stuff coming out of my water several times and was told it probably was paint The issue never got fix..Apt 319A .Also they remodeled the apartment while I was living there which was inconvenient for me...there was a huge water leak from the neighbors air conditioner that was coming through my ceiling which caused mole and water stains.. reported the issue and it took a little over month for maintenance to come and spray paint over the water stains (Which clearly didn't fix the problem)..I couldn't have company over bc the visitors parking was always full...my friend park in the non visitors section and only stay no more than 3hrs at my place and came outside her car was gone... I feel if it's after hours for the office people should be able to park anywhere..We had to drive across town to get her car. LAST BUT NOT LEAST (DOGS).... dog poop was everywhere!!! Really need to enforce the tenants to clean up after their dogs

Cons: If the staff tells you something will be done by a certain day, there is roughly a 30% chance that it gets done by that day. There are also a few hidden fees that they don't tell you about before moving in.

When it was the club it was much better. The new management doesn't know what they're doing and treat the residents horribly. My roommate was the first to move into our apartment. Where she found that it wasn't actually move in ready when they told her it would be. There was water damage in the apartment on the ceiling and floors, completely filthy and not deep cleaned, exposed cords and cables, the residents before still had stuff they left. It looked like it hadn't been touched since the old residents moved out before that. Also, she was forced to pay her summer rent still even when she didn't want to live there because they put a random man in one of the other rooms, when they told her it was a woman. They are also not clear about the rent. It's 12 monthly installments but they aren't equal. You sign a year lease but it's actually only for 11 months and 12 days and still have to pay that 12th month's full rent. They are unclear and shady with their business practices. and unresponsive to residents. Aside from our experience, others who we know have had various issues as well. We do not recommend living here. Don't sign with them.

Really gone downhill since new management came in in November. Maintenance takes forever to respond to work orders and two of the people on the three person team have no idea what's going on. Front office staff (beside Jeremiah) is rude and incompetent. Kyle will actively ignore you if you aren't a potential resident trying to sign a lease. Property manager is never in if you need to talk to someone who is not a leasing agent. The dumpster area has become stray cat heaven since people from all over town have started using it to dump mattresses and old furniture. The gym is tiny and two of the five cardio machines have been broken for months. They claim to be renovating the apartments soon, but I think it is mostly physical...the furnaces and buildings are so old and fragile that a new countertop is not going to fix that. If you choose to live here, make sure you know what you are getting into.

I lived at The Club for a year as a graduate student. This apartment complex is well kept and provides one of the best quality/price ratio in Columbia. I had no trouble commuting by bike to USC campus and enjoyed the overall serenity of the place. Pet friendly and clean with immediate proximity of a nice walking path along the river.

I am a third year college student, first time living anywhere other than home. Honestly, The Club has been nothing but accommodating. We have had some roommate issues in the beginning (but who doesn't?). The manager Julianne is awesome. She did a lot to situate everyone, while remaining professional and resolving the situation. Maintenance guy Jeff is super nice and his crew have been extremely helpful when fixing things and making sure everything is up to date and safe. I am shocked at how quick they are to get back with you as well. If it isn't fixed right away, they give you a time frame and let you know when they are coming over to get it done. The shuttle busses can be very busy in the morning and sometimes you may have to wait until the shuttle comes back around but they are definitely a convenient luxury. I have had nothing but a positive experience here and would recommend this apartment complex to anyone.

Julianne is a wonderful apartment manager. she has helped me during my whole stay here at the club, and has made sure my stay here was fabulous! she is so sweet and understanding. Sarah is a wonderful receptionist, ans is very welcoming and understanding; she makes sure everything is calm and smooth! shes so sweet! Chelsea is such a fantastic spirit, she went with me when i was looking for roommates and made sure everything was safe and secure! The club at Carolina is very homie and spacious. i recommend it to anyone!

My daughter is going into her second year at The Club. Unlike other complexes she has lived in, The Club make repairs in a timely fashion and does its best to keep the community looking good and safe. I appreciate having this apartment for my daughter due to the shortage of campus housing. Emails are answered in a timely fashion, and they do their best to work with you when needed.

This the worst place I have lived in while in Columbia. The entire complex is infested with roaches and despite numerous complaints they have failed to correct the problem. The customer service is awful, the property manager, Rayna Plowden, is completely unhelpful and difficult to deal with. Every month we get a snotty email telling us we need to follow rules like keeping the porch light on at all times and not speeding in the parking lot. These emails are usually accompanied by empty threats of fines. The visitor parking set up is a pain. The complex gives you one visitor pass so you can basically only have one person over at a time without the risk of them being towed. Since I was previously a student at USC I moved often and of the 4 places I've lived in during the 5 years in Columbia this place has been the worst. DO NOT LIVE HERE!
