Terrible experience with Julie Malicek. They have a horrible payment system and constantly bother you about payments when it is their fault they have not entered actual checks into the system in a timely fashion. Then they send smart a** texts like "pay your bill on time". How about you guys get your s*** together

I wish I could give zero stars. Very poorly ran. The walls are paper thin, the paint is the same quality as spray paint, my apartment was dirty when I moved in, elevator breaks down and is very slow, the managers are afraid to handle complaints, if you move in here you better not cause damage. Also hopefully you get lucky and don't have a Brookside water pipe burst causing thousands in water damage because management will 1. refuse to talk to you (pathetic) and two require you to use your own renters insurance for something that is solely the buildings fault. You've been warned!

I would not recommend this to anyone living in Columbia. They do have a nice hot tub, but thats where the positives stop. Everything was cheaply made and its obvious. Things break frequently from normal use and they charge you for it regardless of the circumstances. They also limit the maximum temperature you can set the thermostat to 72 degrees. This is very annoying in the winter. They have a key lock on every door which might seem like a good thing, but after a couple weeks it gets really annoying. Its annoying because you always have to run down to let people in and if you forget your key your SOL. They have a code that opens the main door and elevator, but they refuse to give the code to anyone. So if you take your dog out and forget your key, you have no way to get back into the apartment (really sucks when it is freezing outside). I've waited two hours once just to be let inside. They also slack on cleaning up. Puke and pee are found in the hallways about twice a month and then it take awhile for them to clean it up. There is still currently the remnants of where someone puked from over a month ago just outside the staircase. It still hasn't been dealt with. Also their advertised rates are not their true rates. They have at minimum a $90+ charge every month for their included utilities. You heard that right, they advertise that the utilities are included in rent, but then advertise their prices without this included cost. With all of the better options out there (lofts, rise, east campus, Dflats, etc) it perplexes me that anyone who does research will choose brookside.

The first thing I would like to say is wow this building is an engineering masterpiece. I want to learn how you make walls transmit sound louder on the other side. They do nothing to block the sound. Maybe they just forgot to insulate the walls in my unit. The units are big and somewhat nice but the carpentry is poor and rushed. If you need to speak with the leasing office don't call, that would be pointless. No one returns calls and the only way to get anything done is to do it yourself and go in until you get an answer. The only person who has ever been taught the term "customer service" is Brennan Vogel. To be fair the units are pretty nice and by far the biggest downtown and the hot tubs are a nice touch. It's really close to campus and they have a gym coming soon. Most importantly it's a town run by college kids and no other apartments would be any different in terms of service.
