love to tell friends and family who live in other parts of the country that they haven’t had real Mexican food until they’ve eaten it in this part of California. Forget about Taco Bell and Chipotle, the real authentic Mexican cuisine is right here in San Diego. I’m not sure what type of food they’re feeding students at the GIA, but whatever it is it’s definitely not as good as the restaurants you can find right down the street in Carlsbad, Vista, or San Marcos. I know frugality and saving money is crucial to being a student, but with all the awesome places to eat nearby you should create some space in your weekly budget, and your stomach. There will always be something GIA students can do as long as their campus is within walking distance of the greatest coastline in America. Anyone in the country would kill to be so close to the shimmering Pacific, and if students don’t take advantage of it with at least a few beach days every month they’re wasting a great opportunity. Especially considering that the South Carlsbad State Beach is only one and a half miles away and the best beaches near San Diego are just a short drive from campus. You can also have a fun time in Oceanside, downtown Carlsbad, and nearby Encinitas.
