Oakland Community College

Located all around Oakland County, these suburban Detroit campuses have adequate public transportation to each campus from Orchard Ridge to Royal Oak. Served by SMART buses, it is easy to find your way to campus. However, be mindful some buses stop running just after the last class at night (around 10pm) so don’t miss your bus! Orchard Ridge campus is serviced by routes 400, 385, 740 and 851. Auburn Hills has routes 756. Royal Oak is serviced by routes 430, 450, and 460. Southfield’s campus is serviced by route 710. Commuting, especially if you have a 6pm or 9am class can be dreadful. If you’re headed out from the eastern suburbs to the Orchard Ridge campus be mindful of I-696 during that time. It is frequently congested and littered with accidents. It sometimes is faster if you take 11 mile road out to Orchard Lake Rd to get to campus depending on the time. Obviously it’s better if you live closer to the campus you are attending. Getting to the Royal Oak campus from Farmington Hills during peak traffic times can take you forever, especially if you’re traveling via I-696 or the Lodge Freeway.
