When you move off campus, you probably want to bring your friends with you. Not only is living with roommates cheaper, but it also allows you to try out real communal living, outside the dorm. That means that to-do lists, split utility bills, and food budgets are in your future… as well as the opportunity to throw parties, have impromptu movie nights, or just cook delicious meals with your friends.
Before you start your own friend utopia, though, you need to find an apartment near campus that will fit all of you. So here are three of our favorite two-bedroom apartments near UW-Madison perfect for roommates AND college life.
The Towers on State are a block from campus and were designed with students in mind. There are two study lounges (with free printing), an all-hours exercise facility, and even a screening room. It’s also just a few blocks from James Madison Park, which makes impromptu picnics and pick-up games at the basketball courts a no-brainer. Floorplans go up to three-bedrooms, with all utilities (including internet and cable) included. Residents are a five-minute walk from campus… and a one-minute walk to the action on Langdon.
3. Lucky
It’s hard to imagine a more convenient location for an off-campus apartment than Lucky, which is across the street from the Chazen Museum and Library Mall. Thousands of students walk by it every day, stopping in on the ground floor for a sandwich at Milio’s or to shop for groceries at Fresh Madison Market. The building, which also includes a Walgreens and Anytime Fitness — as well as the UW Bursar’s office — is a convenient hub, and it’s easy to fulfill all your basic needs without leaving it. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with plans for up to four beds. Plus, there’s a doorman, 24/7 concierge service, and a killer rooftop patio.
