one of the few Family friendly apartments in auburn. We have 2 kids and they loved it here as much as we did it is huge for the price so kids had plenty of room to play inside, outside, patio and on hot days we would walk to the pool. My daughter attended Richland elementary school for two years, its just mins away and was a great school!!! The apartments are clean and we'll kept inside and out. Office and maintenance staff are AMAZING they handle things quick, polite, professionally. Had a problem with A.C. Unit at one point and they came after hours and fixed the problem the same day. The complex is just mins. From downtown auburn and auburn university so good for students as well. I recommend this apartment complex to anyone in the Auburn/Opelika area looking for a safe, quite relaxing family friendly home

This place is horrible the manager or whoever she was has a rude attitude I called at 11:00 am just for a SIMPLE light in my kitchen because it is pitch dark this lady tells me I have a stove light that I can use..really so ready for November so I can move!!

Apartments are a rare affordable find in Auburn, which has outrageously inflated rent prices thanks to the college community. The apartments are old and are in need of serious repair work (chips of drywall clogging the bathroom tub drain, large hole in the wall of the AC unit, noticeable wear and tear of just about everything), but are surprisingly quite quiet and comfortable. Had some annoying neighbors, between an occasional smell of marijuana coming through my air vents from other units, and honey boo-boo screaming at the top of her lungs and pounding on the door for her kids to let her into her apartment. Maintenance usually takes a few days to respond but will usually employ some kind of stop-gap measure on the day you notify them...it's understandable given that they probably have constant maintenance stuff to deal with at this complex.
TLDR; Affordable, comfortable, but you get what you pay for...noisy neighbors and slow maintenance.

I had an a.c. issue over the weekend only a few weeks after moving in. I called the 24 hour maintenance line and to my surprise they came out right away to make the repair to the a.c. In the matter of an hour my a.c. was back up and running. I have not had problems since. I was very pleased with their quick response!
Very affordable apartments. Management and maintenance staff was always accomidating. I would recommend Summer Wind!
Nice place to live, reasonable lease options

This apartment complex is the absolute worst! Upon renting (on the walk through checklist) it was stated that the tiles around the faucet in the tub were broken and needed to be fixed. Also, the vinyl on the floor in the bathroom had been pulled up at the door. It was supposed to be fixed. Three years later, still not fixed. Then, November 2016 we complained of MOLD in all the air vents and one bedroom had damage to the wall (the drywall is falling off the wall) due to mold. We asked for it to be fixed or to provide us with the materials and we could fix it. It is STILL not fixed after having reminded management several times. Management is HORRIBLE. Maintenance is HORRIBLE. We asked for an air filter and had to wait 4 months for it. You can't leave clothes in the dryer because for some reason it collects moisture, like all the dryer ventilation is connected because I have had clothes in the dryer from before I leave for work and when I get home at the end of the day there is a hot moisture in the dryer. When the lease was up, we asked to goto a month to month lease because we were planning to move within a few months but they refused to allow us (after being there nearly 3 years). The manager is always rude. The neighbors are awful. I smell marijuana all the time! I can't go out on the balcony without getting hit by the smell. I also can't raise the windows because of it.

I lived here for the duration of my time at Auburn. My neighbors were effing AWFUL. I moved because of them. There had been a break in incident at their apartment (directly across the door from me) and the police knocked on my door at 11pm to ask if I heard anything. They fought, broke glass on the stair case and beer bottles in the parking lot(Brittney handled this incident VERY quickly)..along with being so under the influence one of them vomited at the bottom of the steps(you can't get out another way if you live upstairs). My next door neighbors left their trash next to my door for DAYS at a time. The apartment I was in had a serious roach problem. I taped up my airvents with screen wire from a screen door and I did the same to my utility closet. I heard horror stories from the pest control about the amount of filth some of the residents accumulate and it's no surprise there are roaches(big and small). The apartments are smoking so I smelled like it even though I didn't smoke. They are very very very very dated. 40 year old apartments. Not worth the 500-600 dollars. You will not have a washer/dryer. Not even hook ups. The laundry facility isn't good so you're going to have to find a new one. (I reccomend Thatch Hut)
If you are looking for apartments for your child or family, don't do it. I would certainly consider this noncollege/single couple apartments.
All this being said Brittney (The manager) was VERY accommodating and I appreciate her very very very much for being understanding of ALL incidents I brought to her attention. Do understand that the managers can't fix ALL your problems and on more than a few occasions helped me out with issues I had (Broken things. Approval of a new wiring for my internet..Handling incidents with my loud and gross neighbors in a quick manner.) The maintenance crew were always very quick and nice, I never felt afraid of them and living as a single woman safety is always a serious concern. But the area these apartments are in are not good so they cannot control everything. If the apartment simply just had a (big) roach issue I would have been fine..hey it's apartments..what are you gunna do.
LSS: My neighbors were nasty and loud, I had Roaches, and the apartment was old, BUT the staff was great and I've never had any issues with managment...This was my experience and others may have a way better experience compared to mine. It's all perspective and which apartment you get.
Real good. Affordable price. Nice environment and neighborhood
This place wasn't what I expected. Residents and landlords are rude.

This place is a real sh*#! Hole!!! Old and out dated would be an understatement. I'm in my 30s and this place has been here as long as I can remember, with very few updates if any. Old kitchen cabinets, carpeting, plumbing, and the floors depending where you step feels as if they are about to cave in. Only one cable outlet for the entire apartment. Which is in the living room. Which mean you need smart tvs for your rooms or a splitter. The rent is too expensive for this very low maintenance apartment. Believe me this is Auburn. There are much better places to live! And many to choose from.
Stay AWAY. I would give "0" star if I can.

Pretty nice place to live considering the price. One bed one bath is nice for us so we don't have to deal with roommates. However, they're bad about fixing stuff when they say they will and have been asked numerous time about the same thing! And, the roaches here are pretty bad... not sure if it's all apartments or just this one. I mean, we have monthly pest control visits - but it doesn't seem to be enough.
Auburn can do better than this. Place needs an upgrade. My sister pays a decent price for her apartment though.
Nice and quiet place to live. Affordable
Complex sucks..maintenance is terrible apartments need remodeling not a good place to stay. Currently awaiting for my lease to be up.
Summerwind Apartments unprofessional a lot of illegal activities, murder suspects, and vandalism to resident property. Never consider this apartment complex
Stay away. Bad management, bad maintenance, drug dealers, and bae bae kids running wild everywhere. Moving as soon as lease is up.
Constant bullshit, always something. They will come into your apartment with no notice and will not leave a note to let know they came....
Constant bullshit, always something. They will come into your apartment with no notice and will not leave a note to let know they came. My apartment was leaking from above and the never did a good clean up job. We had mold, the spray lysol and bleach and painted it (the say the used kilm but spells like paint, it's paint) my air condition has broken two times since June. The management is rude an the try to "handle you." It sucks here, finances are the only reason we are here. They also have had about 16 maintenance men since I've been here, so they are not up to date on repairs and some are learning on the job.

Terrible Apartments to stay in My AC went out and it took 4 days to fix it and my apartment was over 100 degrees. I had to pay for a hotel for my wife, daughter, and I to stay in. When I asked could they lower my rent for the month they responded by telling me it's not their fault and we call that when your AC goes out it goes out
This apartment complex is not safe, and management is very bad.

These apartments used to be named Tamarack Apartments. It was changed to SummerWind after a fire destroyed the some of the apartments. These apartments need major repairs and all management care about is meeting quota and rent. Don't put your hard earn money into these apartments. AU has plenty to offer!

I have lived here since July and overall it has been a pretty good experience, The staff is very friendly and will do their best to help you in any way. If your looking for a "perfect" apartment that is the perfect color and doesn't have a few faults then this is not the place for you. The price you pay is well worth what you get. Since I moved here they have been taken over my new management and so far they have got this environment looking very clean and they have already installed new washer and dryers in their laundry mat facilities. Its a like home environment, most of the tenants who live here are also very friendly. Also, if you ever have any type of problem with any leaking or anything if you let them know they will def be right on it. I haven't had any trouble out of this place at all. I was even a few days late on my rent because I didn't get paid til a few days after and they were fine with it just smiled and said it was understandable. There is a tiger transit directly in front of this complex too. This place is a great place to live its very quit at night time, very easy to study or sleep. I haven't had any toubles at all!. Hope this was enough reliable information.
